Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly used on uPVC doors, but they can also be found on other types of door. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned with those in the lock body, allowing them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is vital. It is based on the use that your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for example are required to be fitted with higher security cylinders while doors inside can be secured with the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump features.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one.
